Headed downtown today for the Cleveland Indians Home Opener today? Here are a few tips to make your visit as smooth as possible.
Allow extra time for travel. The Indians Home Opener is always a busy event downtown and attracts many people from all over the city. If you plan to be driving into downtown today, please allow some extra time to reach your destination and park legally!
Follow all directions from traffic controllers, police, and other posted signage. Cleveland Police and Traffic Controllers will be out in full force on Monday. Please obey and respect all decisions or directions from public safety officials. Exercise caution and follow all posted signage when cross streets or walking around downtown.
Designate a sober driver. Cleveland Police offer free rides in police cars if you are arrested for drunk driving. The cars only travel as far as the City Jail, and we do charge for our rooms. Be Smart, Be Safe, DON’T Drink and Drive!
Put Your Junk in Your Trunk! Valuable items should not be left in the interior of a vehicle where others can see them. Items such as purses, wallets, gym bags, cameras, laptops, briefcases, IPods, GPS units or any other items of value should be left at home or secured in the trunk of a vehicle. Even better is to place these items in the trunk prior to arriving at your destination.
If you see something suspicious, say something. Report any suspicious activity to safety officials.
Parking will be restricted on East 9th Street between Carnegie and Superior, and on Prospect between East 14th and Ontario between the hours of 1 p.m. and 10 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2013. Signs will be posted indicating these restrictions.
