Update – 8:00 p.m. May 9, 2013

The case against Ariel Castro has been transferred to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office and will continue to proceed under Prosecutor Timothy McGinty, and as such please contact the County Prosecutor’s Office for any future updates.

The Joint Information Center will stand down tonight at 9 p.m. We do not anticipate any breaking news overnight and do not currently have plans for press briefings on Friday, May 10. The Cleveland Joint Information Center will be in operation tomorrow, Friday, May 10 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. For those still interested in interviews with City of Cleveland Officials, please note that because they may be called as witnesses in a criminal case, the officers who responded to the scene on Seymour on Monday, May 6, will not be made available for interviews.

To reiterate, Mayor Jackson is asking everyone to show good judgment in how they handle themselves throughout this situation in order to demonstrate their compassion for the survivors and help guarantee the integrity of the legal process.
