A PCU was originally assigned to the 11400 Block of Edgewater Drive. Once the PCU was delivered to that location, the City reassessed the deployment due to the densely wooded tree lawns in the area. The concern is that the PCU and signage would be hidden from drivers. The intent of the PCUs is to be a visible reminder for people to slow down and drive safely. The City is reevaluating the Edgewater Drive location.
The City of Cleveland deployed portable camera units (PCUs) yesterday as an extension of Operation Safe Streets, an automated photo enforcement program designed to reduce speeding on city streets and increase safety for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists. PCUs issue automated citations for speeding and will be deployed around the city, particularly on residential streets and in school zones.
