Select City Recreation Warming Centers Open 24 Hours

Today, the Director of Public Works announced that three of the city’s recreation centers currently serving as warming centers will be open 24 hours beginning Monday, January 6 at 8:00 AM and lasting through Wednesday, January 8 at 8:00 AM. Residents seeking relief from the predicted frigid temperatures can visit the centers for shelter, warmth and wash facilities. The recreation centers to be open 24 hours are:

  • Sterling Recreation Center located at 1380 East 32nd Street
  • Fairfax Recreation Center located at 2335 East 82nd Street
  • Michael Zone Recreation Center located at 6301 Lorain Avenue

For more information, residents may call their neighborhood recreation center or call 664-2561. Residents who require heating assistance outside of normal recreation center operation hours and who are unable to get to a 24 hour warming center are encouraged to call 2-1-1.
