City of Cleveland’s Winter Weather Update – February 5, 2014 at 11:00 AM

As snow continues to fall steadily, 51 snow plows and 9 road graders continue to work on the City’s main streets. Given the continued snowfall, motorists are encouraged to limit travel as much as possible. A parking ban is in effect.

In addition, Don’t Block the Box when traveling. Ensure you can move all the way through an intersection before the traffic signal changes. Stopping in the middle of an intersection prohibits oncoming vehicles from passing through that intersection and can result in grid lock.
Key points of the snow plan include:

  • Snow crews will clear main streets and secondary routes before transitioning into residential streets, based on conditions in the City’s six snow removal districts.
  • Bridges and hills will be salted as needed.
  • Motor vehicle maintenance crews will be available around the clock to service the snow fleet as needed.
  • A parking ban is effect (as of 11 p.m. Tuesday, February 4). As a result, stopping, standing, and parking of vehicles will be restricted and prohibited on City streets with posted red and white signs UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Anyone who fails to comply will be ticketed and towed.
  • The City of Cleveland is requesting voluntary compliance from residents who park on streets that are not included in the ban. Parking off street whenever possible helps ensure that plows can service the entire width of the street – curb-to-curb.
