Mayfield Road Bridge Demolition & Puritas Ave Resurfacing Project

Closure of Mayfield Rd. between E. 117th St. and E. 119th St. for Railroad Bridge Demolition

Effective Monday, March 24, 2014, at 6:00 a.m., Mayfield Road will be closed between E. 117th Street and E. 119th Street for the demolition of a railroad bridge. The bridge demolition is part of the RTA Little Italy – University Circle Station construction project.

A detour will be posted along Euclid Avenue and Superior Road. In the eastbound direction, the detour route follows Euclid Avenue to Superior Road. Drivers will turn right and follow Superior Road to Mayfield Road. The detour ends at the Superior Road/Mayfield Road intersection. In the westbound direction, the detour route follows Superior Road to Euclid Avenue. Drivers will turn left and follow Euclid Avenue to Mayfield Road. The detour ends at the Euclid Avenue/Mayfield Road intersection.

Local access will be maintained to Little Italy and properties along Mayfield Road. All work is expected to be completed by Friday, March 28, 2014 at 6:00 a.m.

Puritas Ave Resurfacing Project

Effective Tuesday, March 25, 2014, construction will begin, weather permitting, on Phase I of the resurfacing project along 2.3 miles of Puritas Avenue from SR 237 (Rocky River Drive) to W. 130th Street. This phase of the project will consist of work on the existing westbound lanes on the north side of Puritas Avenue from SR 237 to W. 150th Street. Two-way traffic will be maintained using the existing eastbound lanes. Access to all businesses, residences and side streets will be maintained during construction.

The project will include roadway base repair, removal of existing asphalt and replacement with new asphalt, new ADA compliant curb ramps, new curbs and driveway aprons as needed, and new pavement markings, including bike lanes, in each direction. This project is scheduled for completion by November 2014.
Expect additional traffic notices as work progresses.
