City Kennel Celebrates Ohio Animal Week by Waiving Adoption Fees and Increasing Hours of Operation

The City of Cleveland Kennel and the Cleveland Animal Control Volunteers will be celebrating Ohio Animal Week June 1 through June 7 by  waiving the adoption fee of $61.00 for all adoptable pets in the City of Cleveland Kennel and extending their hours of operation. The mandatory Cuyahoga County  $20.00 license fee will still apply.

Special hours of operation during Ohio Animal Week will be 10:00 am  – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, June 3 and Thursday, June 5.  In addition, the Cleveland Kennel will be hosting an on-site adoption event on Saturday, June 7, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m at the City Kennel. At the event, attendees will be able to meet and adopt lovable dogs looking for a new home! Kennel staff and volunteers will be on hand to answer any questions.

pupIf you are unable to adopt a new pet but would still like to participate in Ohio Animal Week, the Cleveland Kennel will be accepting donations to help feed, bathe, and groom kennel animals. The following items are will be accepted as donations:

  • Canned dog food
  • Canned cat food
  • Puppy/small dog dry food
  • 6′ British-style slip leads
  • Towels
  • Coconut oil
  • Large Rubbermaid bins with lids
  • Small soft dog treats
  • XL KONG classic treat dispensing dog toy

All normal animal adoption services will still be provided under the waived adoption fee. This includes: your new pet, spay and neutering services, licenses, microchips, and the first round of vaccinations. Currently; the rabies vaccination is not administered at the kennel and is therefore not included in the adoption fee. City ordinance requires that the dog be spayed or neutered before its release from the kennel.

All other dates and times not mentioned are subject to regularly scheduled hours of operation: Monday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.  The City of Cleveland Kennel is located at 2690 West 7th Street, Cleveland, Ohio 44113
