East 69th Street Resurfacing Project

Carnegie Avenue to Euclid Avenue

On Monday, October 6, 2014, weather permitting, asphalt resurfacing operations will begin on East 69th Street from Carnegie Avenue to Euclid Avenue. One traffic lane (local traffic only) will be maintained on East 69th street for the duration of this project.

No detour is expected and on-street parking will not be permitted during this phase of the project. Access to all businesses, residences and side streets will be maintained during construction.

The East 69th street resurfacing project includes asphalt roadway removal and replacement, sidewalk replacement where necessary and ADA ramps. The project completion is scheduled to occur in November 2014.

Work Zone Revision

On Monday, October 6, 2014, at 7:00 A.M., the intersection of East 83rd Street and Cedar Avenue will be closed in order to fully construct a new concrete intersection.

Southbound traffic will be detoured as follows:

  • West along Carnegie Avenue
  • South onto East 79th Street
  • East along Central Avenue to East 83rd St.

Northbound traffic will be detoured as follows:

  • East along Cedar Avenue
  • North onto East 89th Street
  • West along Carnegie Avenue to East 83rd Street

Access to all businesses, residences and side streets will be maintained during construction. The intersection will be reopened by 5:00 P.M. on Friday, October 10, 2014.

The Cedar Avenue Rehabilitation project extends along 1.40 miles of Cedar Avenue from East 55th Street to East 89th Street. The project includes pavement replacement, new curb, sidewalks, driveway aprons, drainage improvements, watermain replacements, pavement markings, and streetscape. The project is scheduled for completion by June 30, 2015
