Beginning with tonight’s exhibition game at 8:00 PM and continuing throughout all Cleveland Browns home games for the 2015 season, the City of Cleveland’s Willard Parking Garage will reserve the majority of available spaces for Cleveland Browns season ticket holders and team employees on all game days.
Approximately 400 spaces will be available for general purchase on game days and the remainder will be reserved. Additionally, these limited parking spaces for general purchase will not be made available until two hours before game time. During those games that occur on a weekday, all city employees and visitors will be able to utilize the Willard Garage throughout the day during normal business hours.
These parking changes are due to major increases in maritime activity at the Port of Cleveland. Parking spaces at Port docks that had traditionally been rented to Browns’ employees and season ticket holders will not be available this year. As the spaces at the docks have substantially decreased, the City of Cleveland determined to make up some of the shortfall by renting Willard Garage spaces to the Cleveland Browns in order to accommodate their employees and season ticket holders who formerly parked at the Port.
The Cleveland Browns have issued the following statement: “We have notified season ticket members of the changes communicated to us. Clearly, adequate parking for our season ticket members is important to us and we have been working with the City and the Port to create solutions. We appreciate the City and the Port’s continued cooperation and our season ticket member’s patience and support as we work through this process.”
The City of Cleveland understands that many Browns fans have historically parked at Willard Garage and that some of these long-time fans may be turned away after the Garage reaches capacity earlier than usual. The City has identified 780 spaces at Burke Lakefront Airport as an alternative for these traditional Willard Garage customers.
