Traffic Advisory: 2016 Downtown Street Resurfacing Project

On Tuesday, May 31, the City of Cleveland will begin resurfacing work on a number of downtown area streets. Contractor work hours will occur between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm. No night work is anticipated. The 2016 Downtown Resurfacing Project is expected to be completed by early July. Details on the resurfacing project are as follows:

Huron Road (Ontario Street to Prospect Avenue) – Resurfacing work will begin on Tuesday May 31.  Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times. On-street parking will not be allowed during construction. Work is expected to complete by July 8, 2016.

East 4th Street (Huron Road to Prospect Avenue) – Resurfacing work will begin on Tuesday May 31. One way southbound traffic will be maintained at all times and northbound traffic will be detoured west onto Huron Road, north on Ontario Street, and then east on Prospect Avenue. On-street parking will not be allowed during construction. Work is expected to complete by July 8, 2016.

Bolivar Road (East 7th Street to East 9th Street) – Resurfacing work will begin on Thursday June 2.  Bolivar Road will be closed to through traffic and local access will be maintained for the parking garages.  On-street parking will not be allowed during construction. Work is expected to complete by June 30, 2016.

East 7th Street (Huron Road to Bolivar Road) – Resurfacing work will begin on Wednesday June 1. East 7th will be closed to through traffic and on street parking will not be allowed during construction. Work is expected to complete by June 24, 2016.

East 8th Place (Huron Road to Bolivar Road) – Resurfacing work will begin on Thursday June 2. East 8th Street will be closed to through traffic and on-street parking will not be permitted during construction.  Work is expected to complete by June 24, 2016.

East 9th Place (Huron Road to Bolivar Road) – Resurfacing work will begin on Thursday June 2, 2016. East 9th Place will be closed to through traffic and on street parking will not be allowed during construction. Work is expected to complete by June 24, 2016.

Road construction invariably presents hazards to the public. The city urges all travelers to use caution in construction zones.
