Mayor Jackson’s Media Availability Regarding the Federal Transit Administration Letter

Today, December 30, 2016, Mayor Frank G. Jackson spoke to media about the issues surrounding Public Square. You can read Mayor Jackson’s statement below.

“The City has been consistent since July 2016. The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) must demonstrate operational and financial harm caused by the closure of Superior Avenue through Public Square. In addition, RTA must develop a risk mitigation plan to address all the safety concerns set forth by the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) rules and regulations as seen in recent terror attacks on civilians in Nice, France, Columbus, Ohio, and Berlin as well as threats to downtown residents and visitors to Public Square. Again, this has been and remains our position.” — Mayor Frank G. Jackson
