VIDEO: Cleveland Fire Asks Residents to Check Smoke Detectors Following Recent Fatal Fires

Working smoke detectors save lives and the Cleveland Division of Fire encourages residents to check that their detectors are working properly, especially following the recent uptick in fatal fires.

Some tips to keep in mind, mentioned in the video above, from Fire Chief Angelo Calvillo:

  • Change your smoke detector batteries with every Daylight Savings time change.
  • Develop and practice an escape plan with your family in the event of a fire.

If you’re in need of a detector, the Division of Fire has teamed up with the American Red Cross to provide free detectors. Call 216-361-5535 for more info and to request a free detector.
