City of Cleveland Closes Columbus Road Lift Bridge for Repairs

Today, Nov. 6th, 2017, the Columbus Road Lift Bridge over the Cuyahoga River is closed due to damage to the barrier gate on the south side due from a vehicular accident.

Repairs will be made and the gate will open as quickly as possible. The gate at the bridge on Columbus Road prevents traffic from entering the Columbus River Lift Bridge while it is elevated.

Alternative Routes:

From the South on Columbus Road, turn right onto Carter Road, left onto Carter Road Bridge and left onto Center Street.
From the north use Carter Road Bridge as an alternate and turn right onto Carter Road then left onto Columbus Road.

The City of Cleveland will notify the public once the repairs are completed and the bridge reopens.

  1. Ms Kelsey , will the city list the business that are affected by the bridge closure on the detour signage or on any official posts?
