The City of Cleveland today announced that paid parking will begin at the West Side Market on Tuesday, February 27.
As the West Side Market and Ohio City continue growing in popularity, the new parking structure will relieve congestion and improve overall customer experience for visitors. West Side Market vendors and Ohio City businesses helped the City establish the fee structure.
The parking lot will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. The first 90 minutes are free for anyone parking between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Parkers will pay a nominal fee of $1/hour at a maximum of $10 per day. The business day concludes at 3 a.m. and the $1/hour rate begins.
Parkers may pay by credit card at the columns as they exit each lot or by cash or credit at the Pay on Foot machine. When parkers enter they will be required to take a ticket. The ticket will be needed to pay for parking and to exit the lot. Uniformed parking ambassadors will be available during the initial period to assist customers with the equipment.
Recent improvements to the West Side Market parking lot include an increase of more than 100 spaces and added lighting. A portion of funds generated from the paid parking structure will be used to repay bonds used to finance the lot improvements as well as capital improvements to the building.
The City originally announced its plan for paid parking in November 2017.
