The City of Cleveland was named by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) to its “Top 10 Vegan-Friendly U.S. Cities” – the first time the City received the recognition. PETA presented the City with a framed certificate and letter.
“Because of the growing presence of the vegan movement in your city, it has secured the number seven spot,” the letter from PETA Associate Director Danielle Katz said. “With its increasing number of vegan restaurants and businesses, abundance of vegan comfort-food classics – such as pierogis, whoopee pies, doughnuts, and melty grilled “cheese” – and boast-worthy number of delectable vegan bakeries, Cleveland has become a leader in compassionate culture.”
