Cleveland Police Announce Reward of Up to $20,000 in Homicide of 9-Year-Old Saniyah Nicholson

Mayor Frank G. Jackson and Police Chief Calvin D. Williams today announced updates in the shooting death of 9-year-old Saniyah Nicholson.

On the evening of Wednesday, June 20, 2018, Saniyah was seated in her mother’s vehicle near 4008 Lee Rd. with her adult sister while her mother ran errands. Gunfire erupted outside with two groups of young males firing at one another across the roadway.  Saniyah was shot in the head and later died from her injuries. Members of the Fourth District and the Cleveland Division of Police Homicide Unit immediately began an investigation, canvassing nearby businesses for surveillance video and interviewing witnesses. Photos of two of the suspects were released to media.  Investigators have some promising leads in this case and are urging the public to come forward with information.

A cash reward of up to $20,000 may be available for information provided regarding the case. This reward has been made possible by generous donations provided by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office, the United States Marshals Service and Crimestoppers of Cuyahoga County.

This is the second juvenile victim of homicide within the last three days.  On June 18, 2018, Bahati Juma was gunned down near the 11000 block of Detroit Avenue. No arrests have been made.  There is a $2,500 reward for information on his case.
