Road Closures Announced For USA Triathlon’s National Championships Aug. 11-12

Mayor Frank G. Jackson and the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission welcomes USA Triathlon’s Age Group National Championships to Cleveland. This is USA Triathlon’s largest annual event and it takes place on August 11 and 12, 2018 at Edgewater Park and the surrounding neighborhoods. The event will feature more than 5,000 athletes and another 10,000 spectators from across the United States.

The 2018 USA Triathlon Age Group National Championships. USA Triathlon’s event will include a swim portion at the beach of Edgewater Park with the bike and run portions showcasing the neighborhoods of Detroit-Shoreway, Downtown Cleveland, St. Clair-Superior and University Circle.

In conjunction with the Championships, select roads will be closed for the athlete’s safety on race days.

Road Closures

The following road closures will be in effect from Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018 from 5 a.m. to noon.

The following road closures will be in effect from Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018 from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m.

  • Lake Avenue – West 104th Street to West Boulevard
    Detour: Lake Ave.
  • West Blvd. – Lake Avenue to Edgewater Drive
    Detour: West Blvd.

The following road closures will be in effect from Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018 from 5 a.m. to noon.

The following road closures will be in effect from Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018 from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m.

  • Lake Avenue – West 104th Street to West Blvd
    Detour: Lake Ave.

NOTE: There will be no vehicular access to Edgewater Park Saturday, August 11 or Sunday, August 12 from 5 a.m. until 2 p.m.

A guarded swim area will not be available on:

  • Friday, August 10th from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, August 11th from 5 a.m. until 4 p.m.
  • Sunday, August 12th from 5 a.m. until noon.
