The City of Cleveland’s Department of Aging held its 30th annual Senior Day celebration on Tuesday, May 21. Mayor Frank G. Jackson welcomed residents to the lively celebration, which included vendors, free health screenings, raffles, lunch and live entertainment for seniors by seniors. May is Older Americans Month and this year’s theme, “Connect, Create, Contribute,” encouraged seniors to engage with their communities.
During the event, one senior from each of the City’s wards – selected by members of Cleveland City Council – were recognized for their outstanding contributions to their communities. Certificates of recognition were presented to the honorees by Mayor Jackson and Danielle Wiggins of Channel 3.
