On August 13, 2020, Mayor Frank G. Jackson and members of his administration held a press conference to discuss issues such as COVID-19, public safety, and more.
Director of Economic Development David Ebersole and Assistant Director of Community Development Michiel Wackers spoke on relief provided to businesses and how the City is mitigating the negative effects of COVID-19 on our communities and local economy, while Director of Public Safety Karrie Howard spoke on efforts to enforce the mask mandate and encourage social distancing protocols. Chief of Police Calvin Williams addressed recent protests, as well as Operation Legend and the current crime rates in the City. Chief of Staff and Director of Finance Sharon Dumas rounded off the remarks discussing the City’s budget and revenue amidst the pandemic, before opening up the conference to take questions.
