Mayor Frank G. Jackson Hosts Groundbreakings, Ribbon Cuttings and Special Ceremonies Dec. 14-Dec. 22

CLEVELAND – Mayor Frank G. Jackson will be joined by members of Cleveland City Council, city officials, residents and supporters as he hosts several ribbon cuttings, groundbreakings and special ceremonies Dec. 14 – Dec. 22. The ceremonies help celebrate the new police headquarters, new neighborhood resource and recreation center, new EMS/fire station, new north coast harbor bridge, new mounted unit stables and a new firefighter cadet class. The special events culminate on Dec. 22 with Mayor Jackson’s portrait unveiling celebration– one of his final events as Cleveland’s longest serving mayor. All events will be live-streamed on the City of Cleveland Facebook page.

    • 11 a.m.: EMS/Fire Station #26, 9026 Kinsman Avenue, Ward 6 (Ground breaking)
      • Cleveland City Council President-Elect Blaine A. Griffin and Cleveland City Councilwoman Marion Anita Gardner  
  • Wednesday, Dec. 15
    • Noon: North Coast Harbor Bridge, E. 9th Street Pier, Ward 3 (Ribbon Cutting)
      • Cleveland Councilman Kerry McCormack
    • 2:30 p.m.: E.J. Kovacic Neighborhood Resource & Recreation Center, 6250 St. Clair Avenue, Ward 7 (Ribbon Cutting)
      • Cleveland City Councilman Basheer S. Jones
  • Thursday, Dec. 16
    • 1 p.m.-2 p.m.: Cleveland Police New Headquarters, 2750 E. 75th Street, Ward 5 (Ground breaking)
      • Cleveland City Councilwoman Delores L. Gray
    • 3 p.m.-4 p.m.: Cleveland Police Mounted Unit, directly behind Vocational Guidance Services, which is located at 2239 E. 55th Street, between  Thackeray Avenue, Ward 5 (Ground breaking)

  • Tuesday, Dec. 21:
    • 11 a.m.: Cleveland Fire Academy Graduation, Public Auditorium
      • (This class features 87 cadets and is the most diverse class to- date)
  • Wednesday, Dec. 22:
    • 4 p.m.- 7 pm: Mayor’s Portrait Unveiling Ceremony and Reception, Cleveland City Hall Rotunda
