Construction Update: Pearl Road Traffic Pattern to Change March 1

The traffic pattern on Pearl Road, from State Road to Brookpark Road, will shift during construction beginning March 1, 2017.

Two-way traffic will be moved from the east side of Pearl Road to the west side of the street. The change will remain in effect through July 2017. The 3-mile road construction includes asphalt milling, pavement base repair, asphalt resurfacing, installation of ADA compliant ramps, curb and sidewalk replacement as needed, water main installation, new pavement markings and new streetscape between State Road and Wildlife Way.

The project is expected to be completed by December 2017. During construction, the public is urged to exercise extra caution for the safety of workers.

The City of Cleveland urges all travelers to use caution in construction zones. The safety of the general public and city staff are our greatest concern. Stay tuned to this blog for ongoing updates on the project.

Carter Road Lift Bridge to Temporarily Close December 3 – 4

Beginning Saturday, December 3rd at 7:00 a.m., crews will be performing general maintenance on the Carter Road Lift Bridge.

Work will involve cleaning and general cable repairs. Traffic will not be permitted on the bridge for the duration of the project and northbound traffic on Scranton Avenue will be limited to local access only.

All other traffic will be detoured. Please follow detour signage when driving in this location. This project is scheduled for completion by Sunday, December 4, 2016.

Update: Downtown Road Closures Associated with Motion Picture Filming Continue

Road closures associated with motion picture filming in the City of Cleveland continue this week. Multiple motion picture scenes will be filmed throughout the downtown area and will require road closures and traffic reroutes. There will be four days of filming this week from Thursday, June 2 to Sunday, June 5. There will be three days of filming next week from Wednesday, June 8 to Friday, June 10.

The Cleveland Police Department Bureau of Traffic will supplement their customary allotment of traffic enforcement officers with additional police officers and traffic controllers to facilitate traffic into and out of downtown and to assist with pedestrian traffic.  Numerous officers will be detailed to the area during the event for added security and crowd control.

City Prepares for Downtown Filming of Major Motion Picture

The City of Cleveland is preparing for filming of portions of the major motion picture Fast and Furious 8 to begin in the downtown area on May 18, 2016.

construction1Multiple scenes will be filmed throughout downtown and will require road closures and traffic reroutes.  Filming is scheduled to run through June 10, 2016, however, dates are subject to change.

Access to business and parking garages will be maintained in most cases.  The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority will reroute busses as necessary.

West 117th Street Pavement Repair Project

On Monday, August 10, 2015, weather permitting, pavement repair operations will commence on the east side of West 117th Street from Lorain Avenue to Lake Avenue. One northbound and one southbound lane of traffic will be maintained on West 117th Street on the west side of the roadway for the duration of this phase of the project.

Madison Avenue and Berea Avenue intersections will permit westbound traffic only. The Franklin Boulevard intersection will close with eastbound detours posted to Western Avenue and Detroit Avenue.  These restrictions will remain in place for 21 days.

Access to all businesses, residences and side streets will be maintained during construction. Advance notice signs will be posted to advise West 117th Street traffic of upcoming construction activities. The West 117th Street Pavement Repair Project is scheduled for completion by November 2015.

East and West Boulevard Resurfacing

East Boulevard Resurfacing Project

On Wednesday, June 24, work will commence on the East Boulevard resurfacing project. The project includes asphalt milling, pavement base repair, asphalt resurfacing, installation of ADA compliant ramps, sidewalk, curb, driveway repair, catch basin repair, and new pavement markings on approximately 2.60 miles between Euclid Avenue and St Clair Avenue.

One-way, southbound traffic will be maintained during construction while portions of East Boulevard will be partially closed to through traffic. Northbound East Boulevard traffic will be prohibited except for the area between East 105th Street and Wade Park, where two-way traffic will be maintained. Driveway access will be maintained at all times. Motorists are advised to be alert of lane shifts and barrels used to direct traffic. This project is scheduled for completion by October 2015.

West Boulevard Resurfacing Project

On Wednesday, June 24, work will commence on the West Boulevard resurfacing project. The project includes asphalt milling, pavement base repair, asphalt resurfacing, installation of ADA compliant ramps and new pavement markings for shared use lanes or bike lanes, on approximately 2.10 miles of West Boulevard between West 105th Street and Madison Avenue.

One northbound lane of traffic will be maintained between West 105th Street and Lorain Avenue. Driveway access will be maintained at all times. Motorists are advised to alert of lane shifts and barrels used to direct traffic. This project is scheduled for completion by November 2015.

 

 

West 3rd Street Resurfacing Project

On Monday, June 1, 2015, weather permitting, resurfacing operations will commence on West 3rd Street from Superior Avenue to Lakeside Avenue.

construction1The contractor will begin work on the east side of West 3rd Street at Superior Avenue. During this phase, one northbound and one southbound lane of traffic will be maintained on the west and then the east side of the roadway.

Phase 2 of the project will be announced at a later date and will include concrete repairs to West 3rd Street between Lakeside Avenue and Al Lerner Way.

Access to all businesses, residences and side streets will be maintained during construction.  On-street parking will not be permitted during this phase of the project.

Advance notice signs are posted to advise West 3rd Street traffic of the upcoming construction activities. No detours are expected.

Both phases of the project are scheduled to be complete by mid-August 2015.
